Bubba Gump and MERA Host Beach Cleanup at Playa Chac Mool

On May 3, the team from MERA and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Cancún, in collaboration with ZOFEMAT, organized a beach cleanup at Playa Chac Mool, one of the most visited and iconic beaches in Cancún. This marked the second consecutive year of this initiative, reinforcing the ongoing commitment of both organizations to environmental care.

From early in the morning, team members from various departments gathered enthusiastically to collect solid waste, mainly plastics, cigarette butts, and other debris that harm both the image and health of our beaches. Equipped with gloves, bags, and a positive attitude, the group showed that when we work together, we can make a real and positive impact.

More than just a physical cleanup, this activity became an opportunity for learning and reflection. Through hands-on experience, participants gained a deeper appreciation for the importance of keeping our beaches clean and preserving the natural resources around us. The day also served to strengthen bonds among coworkers and renew our shared sense of responsibility as a company and as individuals.

This effort is part of the broader social responsibility actions MERA promotes across different regions. It also highlights Bubba Gump’s role as a brand that not only celebrates the ocean as part of its identity, but also takes meaningful steps to protect it. The success of the event was measured not only by the volume of waste collected, but also by the lasting message of awareness shared among participants.
